I have been a student of Bellyqueen for over six years and have been privileged to both study and occasionally perform with them (although I am not and have never been a Company member).

Since I have seen several of these choreographies in development in Bellyqueen's classes, I have a unique perspective on their style and the intent of their work -- and, quite frankly, I have occasionally doubted their more ambitious efforts towards multi-cultural, narrative-driven theatrical dance.

As such, I have to say, I was extremely impressed with the work they -- both the dancers and their nimble film crew -- produced on this DVD.

In particular, the sheer variety of styles represented -- oriental, folkloric, gypsy, flamenco, Chinese, African, tribal, hip-hop, even disco dancing with a touch of comedy! -- is mind-blowing and opens the doors of fusion in unexpected and highly enjoyable directions.

Whether you're an experienced bellydancer who wants to see new and unusual explorations, or if you're a complete novice whose idea of bellydance is somewhere between I Dream of Jeannie and Octopussy, this DVD will open your mind and thrill you!
