(More customer reviews)Professionally working with autistic children everyday, I originally was excited when I ordered this video, however I was quickly disappointed upon watching it.The entire video is just not appropriate or engaging for children with autism. Each "aerobic" section is 2-3 adults doing a sequence of steps that would be difficult for an autistic child to follow, as none of the steps are broken down and actually taught to the children. The instructor is monotone and has a flat affect, as well as the music is NOT enticing.Lastly, the cover of the DVD makes one think that there is going to be children dancing and having fun in the video, however those 3 children don't exist in the video.I do not recommend this video...especially for children with autism!

As seen on abc7 Eyewitness News! NEUROPLASTICITY through SENSORY INTEGRATION"Joanne Lara knows that the brain needs the body to move. In this DVD she gives the gift of her artful knowledge to children with autism, helping them to fulfill their wholeness and their potential." - Martha R. Herbert, Ph.D., M.D. Professor Neurology Harvard Medical School(Portion of sales to Dr Martha Herbert & TRANSCEND Foundation @ MassGeneral Hospital for Children)Sensory Integration - One father of a child with autism say's, "Wow. My son loves this DVD." Autism Movement Therapy is the first simple, FUN step-by-step instructional DVD to integrate music and movement for individuals with autism spectrum disorders. Autism Movement Therapy combines structured movement with music connecting the left & right hemispheres of the brain for a 'whole brain' cognitive re-mapping approach. This innovative and creative new approach is the perfect solution for working with your child or student and assisting in the way that they interact with their peers, works in groups, and perform academically in the classroom.AMT allows you and your child/student to creatively move to structured sequences and patterns in your own home, office or in a classroom for just 15 minutes a day, 2-3 times a week in order to see results. AMT is a natural strategy for students with limited speech and language communication skills because they are able to express themselves through music and dance and at the same time experience the thrill of actually moving their bodies through space.Research studies indicate that the bridge between the left and right hemispheres - when strengthened - allows information to be transmitted that otherwise is not being processed. Bridging the two sides of the brain to increase cognitive processing assimilation or ' WAKING UP THE BRAIN' is the ultimate goal of Autism Movement Therapy.
